Karl Michael Henneking, chief corporate strategy and marketing officer of Saudi Arabian mobile operator Etihad Etisalat (Mobily), has announced that the company will start leasing its mobile phone network to a new mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), London-based Jawraa Group (Lebara), allowing it to launch services in the country by end-March 2014.
MVNO Virgin Mobile has signed an agreement with Telefonica’s Brazilian unit Vivo and Mexican unit Movistar to be the infrastructure provider of its operations. Chilean operator VTR has stopped using its mobile brand VTR Movil and has converted into a full MVNO. VTR started operations in 2012 with a hybrid model that combined the use of its own network and a roaming agreement with Movistar.
